Casey Clark was a member of the WXYZ Lazy Ranch Box Barn Dance out of Detroit. His band was the house band and was named after the show (or the other way round).
Detroit label owned by Kenneth C Campbell, Tony Vance & Ray Gahan. Formed in 1954 and affiliated with the Great Lakes label (same owners) in 1954. Boulevard 100 is by the Three Chuckles.
A later release on the Great Lakes label (45 rpm) by Casey Clark is « Orange Blossom Special » B/W "You Gotta Let Me Know.
I relayed this recording to Buddy Emmons through a contact who is in touch with him regularly.
Buddy confirms that he is playing steel on this recording from 1954. Buddy was in Clark's band during 1954 until June 1955 when he replaced Walter Haynes in Dickens' band and went to Nashville.
Buddy also plays that great steel ride on Chuck Carroll's "Hey Now", which has been reissued. Carroll played lead guitar and sang in Clark's band during the same period that Emmons was on steel.
For my very first comment: Oh man - is this good! Casey Clark records keep appearing it seems and I love that band, whether on Sage or backing Jimmy Work on Dot. Not sure if I've got a 'name' yet but I had to turn on the dreaded Java Script to comment. Dave Sax.
I'm expected to criticize so why's it so short and where's the flip? A great site it goes without saying.
