  1. One film web site calls the movie "Rock Island Trail" an example of how Republic was capable of making "A" movies . . . and then gave it one star. Anyway, now I want to see the flick. Thanks for the tunes.

Interesting how you can often tell Western records that come from movies . . . they have violins instead of fiddles. Although there is a tiny bit of good fiddlin' in the Rex Allen vocal version.

  2. On side "A", Rex Allen is accompanied by Andy Parker & The Plainsmen, who are listed on the label as The Arizonans. The Plainsmen are featured, on side "B", singing the same song, but with Charlie Morgan on lead.
At the time, presumably the 1950s)Rex Allen was under contract with Mercury Records, and The Plainsmen were with Capitol Records.
There was a Republic film, "Rock Island Trail" released in 1950, but starring Forrest Tucker not Rex Allen.
