TOPS RECORDS


Hollywood. California (?)

This is presumably the forerunner of the more common maroon, black or red TOPS label, which issued an large quantity of cover versions on 45’s / Ep’s / 78’s in the fifties. I would imagine that there are many other releases with this blue label design, but few ever turn up.

  1. If this is the case, this label belongs to Tops Music Enterprises, which was the parent company of the budget Tops label.

  2. JOE BEAN had a record on Modern in 1947, which helps to confirm Hollywood location.

    The Eddy Arnold & Carson Robison songs here date this records. I've seen this label in maroon but most seem to have vanished long ago,
