BLUE RIBBON DRAFT LABEL LISTING

I am sure there are many more BLUE RIBBON releases to be tracked down; there are certainly a few 45’s from the mid to late fifties. As noted previously the nearest Chaw Mank ever got to a logical numerical series was with the 1900 releases. Listed below is a draft listing, I have tried to place the releases in some kind of order, but I don’t think that it actually accurately reflects the release sequence. The only observation I will make is that Mank transferred his publishing house from BMI to ASCAP at BLUE RIBBON 1918, so presumably all the releases where the publishing is ascribed to “Blue Ribbon Music BMI”, predate BLUE RIBBON 1918, although given Chaw Mank’s somewhat inconsistent numerical series that may prove to be a red herring?

  3. Thank you for the additional data, however the BLUE RIBBON you have identified was part of the 4 STAR set up, nothing to do with Chaw Mank's BLUE RIBBON set up.

  5. Next clutch of activities seems to have begun in the beginning of 1950 with Chaw Mank “starting” (sic) his own record firm Blue Ribbon. This may suggest that the business had been down or low for a couple years (also coinciding with the record ban).

Listing of recording activity based on the disco draft (with further data from Billboard and other sources which may have produced record/recordings), in a very preliminary chronological order (in some cases pretty wild guesses). 1900 series presented separately.

    1950-1951

1950/Jan. 14 Chaw Mank, the Staunton, Ill., pubber, will start his own record firm, Blue Ribbon, after January 15. (sic)
