Randy Hood - I posted a comment about my uncle Rev E L Slavens recording on White Church Records here is what I came up with:
ReplyDeleteWhite Church Records
Rev E L Slavens - vocalist
Under His Wings (1100-A)
Not Dreaming (1100-B)
we also have some that only say 'Hymn Tunes' on the label...have you heard of that?
I will Pilot Thee (1154-A)
Pearls by the Way (1154-B)
A Memory (1155-A)
Jesus Took my Burdens (1155-B)
Many thanks for the details of your uncle's WHITE CHURCH release, I have added the release to the draft listing.
ReplyDeleteI am not familiar with the HYMN TUNES label, however, the numberical series does fit within the RED BARN / WHITE CHURCH numerical sequence.
I guess I put that sentence in the wrong place...1154 and 1155 are also on the WC label
ReplyDeleteRandy Hood
Thanks for clarification - have added 1154 and 1155 to listing.

Hi Mac,
I'm assuming this is a typo for Rushing Family, or is the typo actually on the label? Are you sure that this is numbered 1049? If it is then it appears to shoot down a couple of my conclusions. But labels have been known to use an earlier number for no apparant reason so this could be a possibility. Otherwise maybe we have close to 50 more early releases to find!
The draft was based on what Al and others had and info that I sent to him. Quite a daunting task to type all of them out so he courageously did the quick draft before he changed his mind.
I think Randy Hood means that there is no artist credit on the labels of 1154 & 1155; simply "HYMN TUNES" and that Rev E L Slavens is only listed on the 1100 label. Randy, is that correct?
Thanks to those who have listed more for us. This is looking better than imagined - great team work. If anyone can locate some more we'd be most grateful.
Dave,
ReplyDeleteWhite Church 1049 is one that I haven't seen personally. I suspect I picked it up from an E-Bay listing that didn't have a picture of the label. At the time I hadn't heard of the Rushing Family or the Rusing Family so I wouldn't have had any reason to suspect that it was a typo, although it probably was, since you have other listings for the Rushing Family. Likewise I can't confirm that the 1049 is correct.
Randy Hood - on the albums instead of saying either White Church or Red Barn they simply say Hymn Tunes and there is no address info like on the WC and RB labels. I do have scans of all the records and some mp3's of the recordings if there is anyway to send them to someone. email me at dbo71@att.net
ReplyDeleteI have a completed discography of Blackwood brothers recordings (including all of their White Church releases) if anyone is looking for missing #'s
